For the week ending in April 21, 2010, the Prescott AZ real estate update still favors buyers looking for a Prescott AZ retirement home or to take advantage of the First Time Homeowners Tax Credit extension. 

The average listing price is $427,412 with a median sales price of $225,000 based on 265 home sales.  Compared to the same period last year, home sales have increased 45.6% and the median homes sales price has dropped 11.6%.  Currently there 2,9191 Prescott homes for sale and 555 homes in various foreclosure processes.

Buyers Snapping Up Prescott AZ Real Estate

Buyers are definitely taking advantage of several fairly recent Prescott AZ real estate developments.  Now that spring is here, there are currently 3,000 new and used Prescott homes on the market, giving buyers a great selection of available homes in the market. 

Then the median sales price for homes in Prescott AZ has decreased 11.9% or $30,990 for the Dec 09 to Feb 10 period this year compared to the same period the year before.  Finally many first time Prescott home buyers seem to be taking advantage of the ending weeks of the First Time Homeowners Credit extension.

Property for sale in the “Mile High” town of Prescott AZ is a buyer’s market for the week ending in January 20th.  Currently 2,057 Prescott homes are for sale with 359 of those homes in various stages of foreclosure procedures. 

The median sales price for homes in Prescott AZ between September through November 2009 was $243,750 based off of 332 home sales during that time period.  The average listing price of Prescott AZ properties was $431,704 which was a price drop of 0.4% compared with the week before January 20th. 

However the lower housing prices seem to be stimulating Prescott home sales, as sales rose 49.5%.

Located in downtown Prescott AZ, in a building that used to house the Arizona territorial capital, is the oldest continuous school in Arizona. 

For 103 years, students have been lining up outside the Washington Traditional Elementary School to await an invitation inside by a teacher. 

Lining up outside the school is just one of the traditional aspects of this school.  Special attention is also paid towards penmanship, respect, and an especially rigorous curriculum.  The more traditional aspects of the school seem to be paying off as the Washington Traditional Elementary School is an excelling school based on state labeling criteria among other awards bestowed upon this school.

This weekend many fun Prescott AZ community events for children of all ages are scheduled at the Prescott Public Library. 

Friday the 8th, preschool story-time will be held at 10am with Miss Jennifer and will feature stories, finger plays, and songs.   Then at 1pm, children in grades 1 through 5 are invited to Art Days at the Library with local artist Gary Melvin.  The kids will learn about the seven building blocks artists use to create art. 

Finally on Saturday the 9th, head over again to the Prescott Public Library in downtown Prescott for the Let It Snow Family Fun Day for children ages 4 to 7.  Skyview School Kindergarten teaches will be transforming children into dancing snowflakes and making snow collages during 10:30-1pm.  To learn how to register for this event, please click here.

New-home sales rose 24% and pending home sales jumped 32% in October from a year earlier, which is good news for the Prescott AZ real estate market.

This weekend of Christmas community activities in Prescott AZ is sure to be a busy one with Christmas right around the corner. 

On December 18th through the 20th from noon to 6pm each day, Santa’s Elves will be prancing along in downtown Prescott AZ practicing Random Acts of Kindness and Caroling.  A children’s coloring contest will also be held with a drawing for a $500 shopping spree at Bashford Court.

Then on December 19th from 9AM-3PM, the 7th Annual Holiday Bazaar will be held at Yavapai College in Building 19.  The Bazaar will have assorted gifts such as art, jewelry, wood crafts, baked goods, and much more.  Entry is free and proceeds from this event will be used as scholarships for paralegal students at the Yavapai College.
