Antelope Hills Golf Course to Remain Public

August 27th, 2008 admin Posted in Prescott Recreation, Things To Do No Comments »

Founded in 1956, Antelope Hills opened the Lawrence Hughes designed North Course to the public.  Almost 40 years later the City of Prescott added the South Course, designed by Gary Panks.  Both courses were designed to fit the natural surroundings and offer panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and granite rock outcroppings.

Recently the Prescott City Council opposed a proposal for privatization of the Antelope Hills Golf Course and the Manzanita Grill Restaurant.  The course and restaurant are an asset for the city and feedback from locals indicates a high level of satisfaction with the golf course and its services.  Due to the council recommendation, City Manager Steve Norwood put the RFP for Antelope Hills privatization indefinitely.

Antelope Hills hosts 200+ tournaments and events each year.  Located at about 5,000 feet in elevation, temperatures at the course are often cooler than those of surrounding cities.  A round of golf at the course is an excellent way to beat the heat and enjoy a social outings with friends and family.
