Fun in the Prescott Valley: Polar Bear Splash!
This weekend some die hard Prescott residents took a 40 degree plunge into the Mountain Valley Splash community pool. The Polar Bear Splash, sponsored by the Prescott Valley Parks and Recreation District, is now in its fourth year. This year a participation record was set for the two hour spectacle. 28 swimmers took the plunge for thrills and definitely chills this Saturday. Those brave hearted who made it to the bottom of the pool scrounged for gift certificates and other prizes. This fun Prescott Valley event is an invitation to beat the winter months and get out for some good natured community outdoor fun.
This year the kids enjoyed sledding on a hill behind the pool. Sledding? Yep that’s right! The Arizona Sundogs donated ice shavings from the ice rink to make a base and an artificial snow hill was born. Fun was had by all as the kids tried to slam into the hay bails below. The activities continued with arts and crafts and an ice cream eating contest for kids and adults. Prescott is a wonderful place for family outings and community fun, each year the events get bigger and better as Prescott citizens come out in droves to join the activities. Stay tuned for more community events!
