Chino Valley Approves Annexation for Future Prescott Commercial Development
The Chino Valley Town Council recently approved the annexation of approximately 85 acres just north of town limits. The land includes 14 parcels along the east and west sides of North Highway 89, beginning just south of Rolling Hills Road. The new parcels will be designated for commercial land-use in the General Plan with an initial zoning district of single family residential 2-acre minimum.
Some are worried that the town does not have enough resources to manage the property, namely water and sewer. However town staffer assure the municipality has the budget to cover it - Chino Police, Library, Parks and Rec Dept and the Senior Center will all be available to the annexed parcel owners.
The annexation comes as a result of a request by Peter and Stacy Gurko to include their 15.8 acre property. The Gurkos hope to eventually build a complex for medical professionals or a senior facility. Because of the proximity to the highway they believe commercial is the highest and best use for the land. The council agrees.
